The Waynesboro Heritage Foundation offers education opportunities to school children (public, private or home schooled) at both museums through exhibits, tours and special programming. The two museums are self-guided with volunteers available to answer questions. The Heritage Museum on Main Street is developing a Library and Research Center, which will be available for historic, and genealogical researchers. Our database will soon be available online for researchers to view our collection of artifacts from home, as well. For special groups and organizations, if given advance notice, a special tour or program can be given.

The Foundation currently partners with the Wayne Alliance Theatre to provide history lectures to the public. The lectures are presented every third Thursday at the Gateway, 327 West Main Street. Upcoming historical lectures will be posted on our website.

Internships for credit and non-credit are constantly sought and welcomed. Interns help by creating programs and exhibits, assisting the curator with collections management, researching various Waynesboro history topics, writing blog posts, and helping to digitize the collection. Interested interns may also work on finding grants that can be executed by volunteers. These projects can be short-term, long-term or ongoing depending on the subject. If interested please contact the museum for an application or send resume and cover letter to museum@ntelos.net.
